On the 13th, the government decided to release tritium-contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the ocean. NCC has issued a protest on this issue in the name of the General Secretary and the Chairperson of the Peace and Nuclear Issues Committee.

Global Inter-religious Conference on Article 9 NCC Office Publications
The 7th Global Inter-Religious Conference on Article 9 of the Japanese Peace Constitution Article 9 will be held on March 2nd (Tuesday) to 3rd (Wednesday). Initially, it was scheduled to be held in Okinawa last year, but due to the outbreak of COVID-19, it was forced to be rescheduled and will be held online in March this year. The National Council of Churches in Korea and the National Christian Council in Japan held a joint consultation on "Peaceful Reunification of Korean Peninsula and the Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution" June 11. This was a part of NCCK's campaign for a Korea Peace Treaty in Northeast Asia. 20 participants from Korea, 9 from Europe and North America, and 9 from Japan participated in this half-day consultation. Rev. Ra Heak Jib, Chair of NCCK Committee on Reconciliation and Peaceful Reunification, talked about the importance of this campaign for reconciliation and peaceful reunification of Korean Peninsula.
